WhatsApp Link Generator (wa.me + QR Code)

Create WhatsApp click-to-chat links with prefilled messages and QR codes — free, no signup, in your browser.

Digits only — spaces, dashes and brackets are stripped automatically. Do not include the country code here, and drop any leading 0.

This text appears pre-typed in the visitor's chat box when they open the link.

QR code

The QR code appears here once your link is ready — handy for business cards, flyers, and shop counters.

What this tool is best for

  • Creating wa.me click-to-chat links for Instagram bios, websites, and ads.
  • Adding prefilled messages so customers start the chat with context.
  • Generating QR codes for business cards, packaging, and print materials.

WhatsApp link generator (wa.me click-to-chat + QR code)

A wa.me link is the shortest path between a customer seeing your business and actually messaging you. Without one, a potential customer has to save your number, open WhatsApp, find the contact, and then type — and most people abandon somewhere in that chain. With a click-to-chat link, one tap opens a conversation with your number, optionally with a message already typed. This free generator builds that link correctly (country code, digit formatting, URL-encoded message) and pairs it with a downloadable QR code for print.

WhatsApp has over two billion users, and for small businesses in particular it has become the default customer-service channel — faster than email, more personal than a contact form. A wa.me link works anywhere a link works: bios, buttons, ads, invoices, and packaging. It needs no WhatsApp Business account and no signup on your visitor's side either.

How wa.me links actually work

WhatsApp publishes a simple official format. Take a phone number in full international format — country code plus national number, digits only, no plus sign, no spaces, no dashes, no leading zero — and put it after https://wa.me/. That alone opens a chat. To prefill a message, add ?text= followed by the message with special characters URL-encoded (spaces become %20, and so on). For example:

https://wa.me/923001234567 opens a chat, while https://wa.me/923001234567?text=Hi%2C%20I%27d%20like%20a%20quote opens the same chat with “Hi, I'd like a quote” already typed. The tool above handles the encoding and the digit rules for you, so you never have to think about percent-encoding.

Generate your link in 3 steps

  1. Pick the country code and enter the number. Type the number the way you would dial it locally — spaces and dashes are stripped automatically. Leave out the country code here (it is added from the dropdown) and drop any leading zero; the tool warns you if one sneaks in.
  2. Add a prefilled message (optional but recommended). A message like “Hi! I saw your ad and want the price list” tells you exactly where the customer came from and spares them the blank-chat hesitation.
  3. Copy the link, grab the HTML snippet, or download the QR. Use the “Test link” button to open it once and confirm it reaches the right number before you publish it anywhere.

Where to put your WhatsApp link

  • Instagram / TikTok bio: you get one link — a wa.me link converts better than a homepage because it starts a conversation instead of asking for a browse.
  • Website buttons: a “Chat on WhatsApp” button on product and contact pages (use the copied HTML snippet) catches visitors who would never fill a form.
  • Email signatures and invoices: turn every email you already send into a callback channel.
  • Google Business profile and ads: pair the link with a prefilled message naming the source (“Hi, I found you on Google”) and you will know which channel drives chats.
  • Print — business cards, flyers, packaging, shop counters: that is what the QR code is for. One scan and the customer is chatting; no typing a number from a card.

Writing prefilled messages that get replies

  • Name the context: “Hi! I'm interested in the [product] from your website” beats a bare “Hi” — you instantly know what they want.
  • Keep it short: one line is enough. The customer can edit it before sending, so it is a prompt, not a script.
  • Use one link per channel: different prefilled messages for Instagram, your website, and flyers tell you which channel earns its keep.
  • Avoid asking for personal data in the prefill: let the conversation earn that. A low-friction opener gets more taps than a form disguised as a message.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Keeping the leading zero: 0300 1234567 with country code 92 must become 923001234567, not 9203001234567. The tool strips it and warns you.
  • Including the plus sign or spaces: wa.me wants pure digits. Pasted numbers with “+92 300…” formatting silently break hand-built links — another reason to generate rather than hand-type.
  • Never testing: always open the generated link once yourself. A single wrong digit sends customers to a stranger.

Your number stays private to this page

Link building is pure string work done by JavaScript in your browser, and the QR code is rendered on a local canvas — there is no server, no upload, and no log of the numbers you enter. That matters because a phone number is personal data; with this tool it never leaves your device.

FAQs

What is a wa.me link?+

It is WhatsApp’s official click-to-chat URL format: https://wa.me/ followed by a full international phone number (country code + number, no plus sign, spaces, or dashes). Tapping it opens a WhatsApp chat with that number immediately — no contact saving needed.

How do I add a prefilled message?+

Append ?text= plus the URL-encoded message to the link, e.g. https://wa.me/923001234567?text=Hi%2C%20I%20need%20a%20quote. This tool encodes it for you automatically — just type the message normally.

Do I include the plus sign or leading zero?+

No. WhatsApp expects digits only: country code first, then the number without any leading zero. For a Pakistani number 0300 1234567, you enter country code 92 and number 3001234567.

Does the recipient need my number saved?+

No — that is the whole point of click-to-chat. Anyone who taps the link lands directly in a chat with you, which removes the biggest friction in getting customers to message first.

Is the QR code free to use commercially?+

Yes. The QR code simply encodes your wa.me link — there are no watermarks, expiry dates, or usage limits. Print it on cards, flyers, packaging, or shop signage.
