Free QR Code Generator
Create QR codes for URLs, text, WiFi, vCards, email, SMS and phone numbers — custom colors, sizes and error correction, PNG/SVG download, all in your browser.
https:// is added automatically if you leave it out.
The blank border around the code. Scanners need at least 1–2 modules.
15% — good default. Higher levels survive damage but hold less data.
Fill in the fields above — your QR code appears here instantly.
What this tool is best for
- Printing QR codes for menus, flyers, business cards, and packaging.
- Sharing WiFi access without spelling out the password.
- Creating vCard contact codes and one-tap call / SMS / email codes.
QR code generator online free (no sign up, no watermark)
Most online QR generators are traps: they create dynamic codes tied to a paid subscription, stamp watermarks on the free tier, or force you to create an account before you can download a single image. This generator does the opposite — it builds static QR codes, where your data is encoded straight into the black-and-white pattern. The result never expires, works offline, and costs nothing, because there is no server in the middle to bill you.
Pick a content type — URL, plain text, WiFi network, vCard contact, email, SMS or phone — fill in the fields, and the code renders live as you type. Tune the size (256, 512 or 1024 px), the quiet-zone margin, the error-correction level, and the foreground and background colors (including a transparent background for dark designs). Download a crisp PNG for print or an infinitely scalable SVG for logos and signage. Everything runs in your browser: your WiFi password and contact details never touch a server.
Static vs dynamic QR codes
| Property | Static (this tool) | Dynamic (paid services) |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free forever | Subscription — codes die if you stop paying |
| Expiry | Never | Tied to your plan |
| Change destination later | No — data is baked in | Yes — redirect is server-side |
| Scan tracking | None — fully private | Yes — scans are logged |
| Watermark / signup | None | Often required |
| Best for | Print, menus, business cards, WiFi | Campaigns needing editability + analytics |
How to create a QR code
1. Choose the content type: a website URL is the most common, but WiFi codes are the crowd-pleaser — guests scan and join without typing a password. 2. Fill in the fields; the preview updates live and the encoded payload is shown with its character count. 3. Pick your options: 512 px PNG suits most print jobs, SVG is best for large signage, and error correction H keeps the code readable even if part of it gets scuffed. 4. Download and use it anywhere — no attribution needed.
Two scanning tips that matter in the real world: keep a quiet zone (the blank margin around the code) of at least 2 modules — the margin control above handles this — and test the printed code with two different phones before a big print run. Dark-on-light contrast scans fastest; light-on-dark (“inverted”) codes fail on some older scanners, so stick with dark modules on a light or transparent background.
WiFi and vCard codes, explained
A WiFi QR code uses the format WIFI:T:WPA;S:YourNetwork;P:password;; — phones from both major platforms recognize it and offer to join the network on scan. Special characters in your SSID or password are escaped automatically. A vCard code carries a VCARD 3.0 contact card (name, phone, email, organization); scanning it opens the “add contact” screen directly, which is why vCards beat plain text on business cards.
Privacy note
Generation happens entirely in your browser — your WiFi password, phone number and email address are encoded locally and never uploaded. One thing to remember: anyone who can see the printed code can read its data, so don't encode secrets you wouldn't print on paper.

FAQs
Do the QR codes I create here expire?+
No. This tool creates static QR codes: the data is encoded directly into the pattern, so the code works forever and never phones home to any server. Nothing to renew, nothing to pay.
What is the difference between static and dynamic QR codes?+
Static codes (like the ones here) embed the final data directly and are free forever. Dynamic codes point to a redirect URL on a paid service so the destination can be changed later and scans can be tracked — but they stop working if you stop paying. For menus, business cards, WiFi sharing and most print uses, static is the right choice.
Do I need to sign up or is there a watermark?+
Neither. No account, no email, no watermark, no "scan limit". The PNG and SVG files you download are yours to use anywhere.
Is my data uploaded anywhere when I generate a code?+
No. The QR code is generated locally in your browser with an open-source encoder. Your URLs, WiFi passwords and contact details never leave your device.
Can I use these QR codes commercially?+
Yes. Static QR codes you generate are free for commercial use — print them on packaging, menus, flyers, invoices or merchandise without attribution or licensing fees.
