Mailto Link Generator (cc, bcc, QR + Spam-Safe)
Build perfect mailto links: to, cc, bcc, subject, body with correct RFC 6068 encoding — plus HTML, Markdown, QR code, and spam-bot-proof output.
Every character is a numeric HTML entity — harvesting bots see no email address, but browsers decode it perfectly.
QR code for print
Scanning opens a new email with your subject and body prefilled — ideal for business cards, flyers, and receipts.
100% client-side — your addresses stay private
Every link, QR code, and obfuscation is generated in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or sent anywhere — close the tab and it is gone.
Mailto link generator: prefilled emails without a contact form
A mailto link is the simplest way to let someone email you from a web page: click it, and the visitor’s email app opens a new message with the address, subject, and body already filled in. No contact form, no backend, no spam-filter plugin to maintain. The catch is that hand-writing these links is error-prone — a single unencoded space or & breaks the whole thing. This free mailto link generator builds them correctly, with proper percent encoding per RFC 6068, in seconds.
Fill in the recipients, subject, and body, and you get four ready-to-use outputs: the raw mailto link, an HTML anchor for your website, a Markdown link for docs and READMEs, and a spam-safe obfuscated version that hides your address from harvesting bots. A scannable QR code is generated live for print use, and you can paste any existing mailto link to decode it back into editable fields.
How mailto links actually work
A mailto link has two parts. Before the ?come the recipients, comma-separated: mailto:sales@example.com,support@example.com. After the ? come the headers, joined with &: subject=, body=, cc=, and bcc=. Every value must be percent-encoded — a space becomes %20 (never +, which email clients read as a literal plus sign), and a line break in the body becomes %0A. This generator applies exactly that encoding, which is why subjects like “Hello World” and multi-line bodies survive the trip into the email app intact.
The spam problem (and the fix)
Publishing a plain email address invites harvesting bots that scrape pages and sell addresses to spammers. The classic defenses are contact forms (which need a server) or writing your address as “name at example dot com” (which annoys humans). This tool gives you a third option: HTML entity obfuscation. Every character of the mailto URL is converted to a numeric character reference (like m), so the page source contains no readable address at all — yet every browser decodes it back into a working link automatically. Bots running simple regexes see only noise; your visitors see a normal “Email us” link.
For maximum protection, combine obfuscation with a dedicated address for the website (so you can retire it if spam arrives) — and never put your primary personal inbox in page source, obfuscated or not.
QR codes: mailto goes offline
A QR code containing a mailto link is surprisingly useful. Print it on a business card and scanning it opens a new email to you with the subject prefilled — the scanner never has to type your address. Put one on a receipt or a delivery box and customers can report a problem with the order details already in the draft. The generator builds the QR live as you type and lets you download it as a PNG sized for print.
Where mailto links beat contact forms
- Static sites and docs: no backend to run a form — a mailto link works on plain HTML, GitHub Pages, and READMEs.
- Prefilled support requests: embed the product name and a template body so users send structured, answerable emails.
- Newsletters and PDFs: a “reply to this” link survives being forwarded and printed, unlike a form URL.
- Internal tools: one-click “email this report” buttons with the summary already drafted.
Decode and edit existing links
Inherited a page with a mysterious mailto link full of %20 codes? Paste it into the importer — even if it is wrapped in an HTML anchor or Markdown — and the tool extracts the recipients, subject, and body back into the editable fields. Edit, regenerate, and you are done.
Your addresses never leave this page
Everything runs in your browser: link building, QR rendering, obfuscation, and decoding. There is no server round-trip, no analytics on your inputs, and nothing stored. Paste work addresses without a second thought; closing the tab erases all trace.

FAQs
What is a mailto link?+
A link that starts with mailto: and opens the visitor’s email app with a new message prefilled. It can include recipients (to, cc, bcc), a subject, and a body — no form or server required.
Why do spaces break my mailto links?+
Spaces and characters like ?, &, and line breaks are not allowed raw in a URL. They must be percent-encoded (space becomes %20, a line break %0A). This generator encodes everything for you per RFC 6068.
Does this tool upload my email addresses?+
No. The link, QR code, and obfuscation are all generated in your browser. Your addresses are never uploaded or stored anywhere.
Will the obfuscated link work in every browser?+
Yes. Browsers decode numeric HTML entities in the href before following the link, so the obfuscated anchor behaves exactly like a normal mailto link — harvesting bots just cannot read it.
Do mailto links work on phones?+
Yes — on mobile they open the default mail app (Gmail, Apple Mail, Outlook) with the draft ready. That is also why the QR code output is handy: a scan on a phone jumps straight into a prefilled email.
